How to Host a Relaxing and Stress-Free Night With Friends

Having your friends over for a night of fun, food, and laughter always sounds like the perfect evening, but in reality, it can become stressful. Just the thought of planning something at your place can cause you to cancel before you add an invite to the group text. Change the way you think about hosting by following these easy tips to make your next gathering more enjoyable.

Turn on the Jets

Nothing is more relaxing than sitting in the hot tub with your favorite people. Get yours ready to go by having a professional hot tub cleaning before your friends arrive, and then schedule routine cleanings going forward.

Relaxing in a pristine hot tub while chatting with friends and catching up on one another’s lives or the latest binge-worthy series is a wonderful way to reconnect and wind down together. Set out a basket of fluffy towels and extra robes and slippers if you have them, so everyone can dry off when they are done.

Plan a Delicious Menu

Food is essential for a great evening. As you are looking for a menu, it is important to remember everyone’s individual dietary restrictions and allergies. If someone is highly allergic to specific ingredients, leave them off the menu altogether to avoid cross-contamination. Otherwise, simply label the dishes accordingly.

Opt for food you can prepare in advance to avoid unnecessary stress on the day of your fun event. An alternative is to have food delivered from your favorite restaurant. Or, consider a meal of tasty appetizers that are easy to make, store, and serve.Β

Present a Clean and Organized Home

Inviting people over is difficult when your home is dirty and disorganized. In your busy life, it can become hard to find time to keep everything in order and well-kept. You can do something about the state of your home by starting early and starting small.

As soon as you decide to have people over, begin cleaning up. Set a timer and go from room to room with a basket to gather items and put them back in their respective places. Next, pick a room and begin cleaning. This can be on the same day or the next. Continue this until your home is ready. Going forward, try to put your belongings away when you are finished with them and create a cleaning routine or schedule to keep everything nice and shiny.

Ask Guests to Help

Some hosts might disagree, but if you are comfortable with this idea, it is okay to ask your guests for help. When you are finished eating and they inevitably ask how they can help, simply ask them to stack their plates in the sink or place them directly in the dishwasher. As you are putting the food back into the refrigerator, accept help and engage in conversation, or put on a playlist.
